The Ultra Paint: Vermont 2015

Behold my suit of armor for this weekend’s Ultra Beast in Vermont. This race is already being touted as “The hardest race of the year” by none other than sadistic course designer, Norm Koch. I will need all the defense I can get. Those who have followed us for a few years now, know that when the Ultra Beast comes around, we do a painted compression top instead of body paint. This allows me to wear a hydration pack without rubbing all the paint off immediately. It also offers a bit more in the way of warmth and protection for the long, grueling hours that will be spent on the mountain. This year we are fortunate enough to be able to introduce dye-sublimated gear into our ritual. In other words, this top will be printed instead of hand-painted and will hopefully be available to purchase within the next several weeks. As some of you know, I have a few ailments that are plaguing me as of late and this race has me worried. Finish or not, I know that it will be another unforgettable battle. I have taken down this monster twice now. While this year may be the toughest yet, here’s hoping for another victory. I will return with my shield or on it.
